This sculpture was created in the same style as my first ball and flame but I elaborated on the original idea by creating it from 3 types of wood each of which contrasted in colour giving it, I felt, a more refined appearance. The wood used was Sycamore for the sphere, ebony for the black base and top and bottom of the globe and Purpleheart for the barley twist finial and stem.
The overall height is approximately 400mm (15.5″).
The width of the Sycamore globe is approximately 120mm (4.5″).
The width of the ebony base is approximately 80mm (3″).
