I turned this platter from Tulip Tree which naturally had a contrasting dark (heartwood) and light (sapwood) coloured grain that brought to mind waves and the sea so I decided to carve a design with that theme. The harbour picture that I carved was inspired by Boscastle harbour. The platter is less than 3mm thick across its entire width and is approximately 390mm
(15.25”) in diameter.
